Minneapolis, County Seat of Ottawa County, 20 some miles north of the I-35/I-70 interchange, offers downtown shopping with many specialty shops, a 9 hole Golf Course with Club House, Trap Shooting Range, an Inn, Motel, Restaurants and snack bars.
History runs deep, from the Antebellum houses along main streets, to Elkhorn Dam in the Solomon River. The Ottowa County Historical Museum features displays of real dinosaur bones (found in our area), old bottles and an exhibit of Geroge Washington Carver, the Agriculture Scientist, memorabilia. Our City Park, Markley Grove, has a swimming pool, playground equipment, picnic shelters and overnight camping facilities nestled among the trees.
Rock City Park, 3.5 miles southwest of town,(available year round), a National Natural Landmark is comprised of over 200 huge concretions (round boulders) some the size of houses! A Gazebo, large shelter house, picnic tables under the
trees, and 1.3 miles of mowed interconnecting trails through native grasses and wildflowers can all be used in season. The Gift Shop (open May. to Sept.) offers unusual handcrafted items and an amazing selection of rocks for sale plus a Kiddies Corner.
Minneapolis Raceway, 3 miles southeast of town offers a 3/8 mile dirt track, IMCA Sanctioned racing on Saturday nights, April through September.
